A Wedding Venue That Will Get Everyone Talking!!

We are out and about at the moment visiting wedding venues some well know and some of them like this particular one are as of yet almost undiscovered and are a real jem of a find!!

We love to come across wedding venues for our couples that are different, fun and a bit off the radar and Galway Glamping is definitely one of these! The venue know as Brooklodge is located in Ballyglunin, Co. Galway near Tuam and Galway City.

The venue is set in the historic Blakes Estate along the banks of the beautiful Abbert River. Glaway Glamping has much to offer for weddings of all sizes. The wedding facilities include a converted barn (max 120), drinks reception area, outside reception area, covered porch, bar, outdoor and indoor ceremony area as well as ample space for a marquee.

There is plenty of onsite accommodation including Mongolian Yurts, Cabins and in house rooms all having there own individual and quirky style. There is also a separate Bridal Suite in the tower. The site also has plenty of outside areas with colourful seating and fire pits as well as 3 large indoor social spaces.

We really like this venue for its flexibility, friendly atmosphere and beautiful setting. If you are looking for a venue that has it all and is a little bit different and something fun and exciting for your guests then go and have a look -  you won't be disappointed!!

There Is A New + Rather Exciting Wedding Venue In Town!!

Yes you read it right, we have just been to visit a new + exciting wedding venue.....

We recently went to take a look at a new wedding venue called The Grocery

The Grocery is situated in the center of the picturesque town of Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath. It is a family run business and comprises of a host of buildings and amenities including a Bar, Lounge, small grocery shop + cafe, accommodation, outbuildings, large garden, courtyard, The Barn and Orangery.

It is a listed building seeped in history and charm. It was built by Jane Countess of Belevedere in the mid 1800s and retains many of the original and quirky features.

Weddings are held off the main street at the back of the grocery and cafe. There is a separate entrance where you find hidden away, the most beautiful courtyard, outbuildings, Barn, large landscaped garden and Orangery at your disposal. The space can have up to 120 people, it is very flexible and can hold ceremonies, drinks reception, main reception and music and dancing, how you use the space is up to you.

Both the barn and orangery come with a full licence bar, wood burning stoves and lounge areas. There is also a full catering kitchen, they have an on-site caterer but you can also bring your own caterer if that is your preferred choice.

What is unique about The Grocery is that it has been lovingly and painstakingly restored by its owner. Both the accommodation and buildings are full of character, comfort and impressive details. It oozes old world charm while still having all the modern comfort and up to date facilities you require.

We loved everything about this venue! We were very impressed with the restoration details, fun and quirky atmosphere and the overall flexibility of the space. It is well worth consideration, if you are looking for a venue with a difference, then a visit to The Grocery will not disappoint!!

Here are some photos to give you a sneak peak of all it has to offer...

A house full of fabulous-ness - Roundwood House in Co. Laois!!

We were out and about today and called in to see this beautiful old country house to check out it's facilities for weddings and events. We were so impressed with... well everything really!!

It oozes charm and character and has a relaxed and homely atmosphere!! It's traditionally a guest house but holds a limited amount of weddings every year.

They hire the house out on an exclusive basis for weddings and have on-site catering and bar as well several options for holding a ceremony. The specialise in weddings for up to 60 guest and can host the main reception in the dining room (up to 30 guests) or in the converted barn (up to 60 guests).

There is plenty of accommodation available in the house (up to 30 guests) with large bedrooms in the hose and cottages to the rear of the main house. Each room is tastefully styled in keeping with the age and size of the house.

Simple Styling Sunday - On A Tuesday!!

Sometimes choosing a vintage style wedding does not have to be vintage-Y!!

When people think of a vintage wedding they have an immediate image of old stuff, floral designs, jam jars and lace ribbons. However choosing a vintage style and look for your wedding does not necessarily mean you have to keep to the traditional vintage look!!

When we are developing a wedding style with a couple we love to do something different while still making sure it reflects the couples personality. We would always encourage couples to have some fun with whatever style they choose, be brave and put their stamp on it!!

You don't have to go all out on doing something different with how you style your wedding, it just has to be thoughtful, considered and possible to do. It can be something you add to the bigger things or in the smaller details but whichever you choose just have fun with it and go for it!!

Here are a few photos from a recent styling project we did for The Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair. The theme was Vintage Tea Rooms and the setting was an old country house hotel. We kept to the vintage look but we gave it an edge by introducing bright colours with the traditional elements. We added the bright colours through the flowers, china and black and white tablecloths with a bright trim. The overall look was relaxed, fun and a little bit unexpected!! We hope you like it....

Simple Styling Sunday

Simple Styling Sunday - Welcome to our new weekend feature entitled Simple Styling Sunday!!

Each Sunday we will feature some of our favourite wedding and interiors styling projects that we have worked on or some simple styling projects we have found that we love and really want to try....

This week we have a piece from a recent interiors project we were working on. We are big fans of recycling here at The Wedding Festival so when we saw this old and dated chest of drawers in a charity shop some time ago we just had to have it as we knew we could do something fun with it!

We decorated the chest for a boys bedroom project. Each drawer is decorated to represent a different aspect of the room. The top drawer and the third drawer reflect the walls in the room and the blue herringbone design reflects the boys second favourite colour!!

We really like this piece as it brings the whole room together in a fun and interesting way and is a great way to recycle old furniture!!

Equality for everyone!

24th May 2015 - Today we are so proud to be Irish!!

All here at The Wedding Festival have woken up today with a great big smile on our faces!! It is now definite that the YES vote on equality has won and we are delighted, relieved and proud!!

It is not often that we have a vote, event or incident that brings the whole country together. The vote on equality has done this but in a way that we here at The Wedding Festival have not experienced before. The effort, understanding and support that the majority of Irish people from home and abroad have shown over the last few days is inspirational, admirable and lets be honest feckin’ well fantastic!!

We recognise that this was not an easy topic for some and that a lot of people struggled with their decision on what to vote. We understand the issues put forward by the NO campaign although we may not agree with them, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

This campaign touched everyone, young and old, gay and not gay, tall and small, male and female…. It brought us together because we believe in equality and acceptance and today we can say with great pride and elation Ireland stands for these things and stands together!!

Congratulations to all who worked so hard on this campaign and who stood up and said YES YES YES!!
